Monfalcone, Italy — For one week, the Red Bull Sailing Academy turned into a playground for possibility: the first-ever Red Bull Wingfoil Camp.
Organized by Red Bull, the event brought together some of the world’s most visionary innovators and athletes — including Robby Naish, Santi Lange, Chris MacDonald MacDonald, Nia Suardiaz, the Acherer Brothers and Thomas Proust all riding VAYU wings to explore how wingfoiling could evolve into the next Olympic sailing discipline.
A new kind of camp
This wasn’t a typical training week. It felt more like a floating think tank.
The experimental mindset of the Red Bull Sailing Academy, guided by mentors like Santi Lange (Olympic gold medalist and strategist ), met the precision of Olympic sailing and the creativity of modern wingfoiling.
Athletes, designers, and coaches spent long days on the water and longer nights in discussion — comparing foil setups, adjusting strut pressures, and analyzing race data. Together, they explored what a **One Design wingfoil class** could look like for the Olympics — a unified gear setup where skill, not equipment, defines victory.
Where legends and youth share the same wind
Seeing **Robby Naish** — one of wind sports’ true pioneers — sharing the same lineup with young talents like **Thomas Proust** and **Chris McDonald** captured what makes this sport unique. It’s a mix of experience and fresh energy, of heritage meeting innovation.
The atmosphere was equal parts workshop and inspiration lab — driven by Red Bull’s belief in pushing boundaries and fueled by VAYU’s pursuit of high-performance design.
Powered by VAYU
Every athlete rode **VAYU wings**, including the **VAYU X-RACE** and a specially design based on the popular **VAYU AURA** series, providing critical feedback that will shape future developments. These real-world testing sessions are where performance meets precision — and where One Design principles take root.
For us at VAYU, innovation starts on the water. By working directly with athletes and coaches at the top of the sailing world — from **SailGP** strategists to **Olympic programs** — we’re helping to define the path for wingfoiling’s next evolution.
