Frequently Asked Questions
Yes you can. It’s really easy with our wing models. Attaching yourself to your wing with a harness reduces the load on your arms so that you can ride longer.
As with all sports, Wing Foil has a technical side which makes the choice of equipment very important. You will need a Foil (Hydrofoil) setup which consists of a mast, a fuselage, a front wing and a stabilizer (rear wing). The foil board used to practice Wing Foil can vary according to the size and the level of practice of each one. However, we strongly recommend starting with a stable board at least 30L above your weight so that you can concentrate more on handling the wing and managing the foil than on balance when starting out.
The wing is specially designed for Wing Foil. It can also be used on a SUP board without foil for beginners. A wing with a boom will be easier to handle and stiffer than a wing with soft handles.
Inflate your wing for better drying
Ideally, after your session, to dry your wing we advise you to leave it inflated. If for some reason you can’t do this, don’t hang it by its handle. Indeed, when the wing is deflated, if you let it hang too long by the handle, the deflated central bladder may twist on itself and bring some complications when re-inflating the wing. We explain how to avoid this scenario.
What should I do if I have a fold or “hernia”?
If you inflate your wing with maximum pressure in one go, a fold or hernia may develop and burst. To prevent this phenomenon, when you reinflate, before putting on maximum pressure, take care to check that the bladders are well in place. So when you inflate, start to send a little bit of pressure into the bladders to give the wing its shape. Then, before applying more pressure, lightly tap the socks so that they fit back into their sheath. And only then can you put the proper pressure on. At VAYU we mention the recommended PSI on the bladder.
Tidy up your wing
The last step is to put the wing in its bag. It’s simple, unscrew the valve and let the air out. Then roll up one ear, then the other, to the middle curl. By doing so, you take care to keep your central coil well in place in its sheath. Depending on the size of the wing, you will make 2 or 3 folds before putting it in your bag.

Doesn't matter where the foil is placed, it’s all about your foot position above the foil. Moving the foil forward and keeping your feet in the CoG of the foil/mast and you will have more lift. Place the foil/mast further and you will get less lift but more control.
Try going out with no straps and put the foil at the back or even in the middle, start with your feet in front of the CoG and slowly work back until you get a bit of lift, then from here this is your sweet spot for that foil.
Wingfoiliing is awesome. The feeling, almost indescribable. And, like anything worth doing, it comes with some risks. We recommend the following safety accessories for wingfoiling: Helmet and an impact vest.
We recommend starting with 30L above your body weight and try smaller volume boards as you progress.
